Why green energy is still falling behind hydrocarbons in power generation ?

Just read a very interesting article posted by Ian Wright on ‘ Why Black is the Real Green’. (http://seekingalpha.com/article/1444461-why-black-is-the-real-green-in-energy-production)

I believe that although it is important to continue the effort to look into alternative energy such as wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, we can’t discredit fuel sources such as oil, coal and natural gas. Talking about environmental concerns, the investment of better fuel gas conditioning systems in coal or combine cycle power plants is equally important in my point of view.
